External Hemorrhoids Treatment
External hemorrhoids involve the veins around the anus. They can
be itchy or painful and they do sometimes crack and bleed. So external
hemorrhoids are those that occur outside of the anal verge and are
often very painful (as opposed to internal
hemorrhoids which have yet to buldge out of the anal area.)
It is the external hemorrhoids which can cause most of the pain,
the burning and the itching. One especially unpleasant hemorrhoid
symptom is if an external hemorrhoid becomes cut off from its blood
supply. A clot can then form in the hemorrhoid and the person suffers
from very severe pain. When such a blood clot forms, once can usually
feel a tender lump on the edge of the anus and see bight red blood
on the toilet paper or even in the toilet after a bowel movement.
If you are suffering from external hemorrhoids, you would be wise
to treat the condition with an external hemorrhoid treatment as
soon as possible because otherwise the symptoms of your hemorrhoids
could worsen.
The best treatment for external hemorrhoids is often a combination
of a change in your habits or lifestyle together with either over-the-counter
medications or natural treatments. If you can persevere with this
combination, the chances are extremely good that you will successfully
treat your hemorrhoid condition.
In recent times, many products have come onto the market for home
use in treating
external hemorrhoids and such treatments can be made from essential
oils, herbs, minerals, natural supplements and Vitamin E. So the
emphasis is on pure natural products rather than synthetic chemicals.
By working to treat external hemorrhoids at source, these natural
home remedies have proven effective in both curing the problem and
preventing recurrence.
Along with such treatment, you can help the process by:
• Changing to a healthy diet with lots of fruit, vegetables
and fiber together with drinking plenty of water.
• Taking a bulk forming laxative to prevent constipation.
• Being careful not to push or strain when having a bowel
movement.
• Avoiding sitting or standing too long.
• Avoiding the lifting of heavy objects.
• Applying ice packs or cool cotton compresses for relief.
• Keeping the area clean with baby wipes.
• Soaking the hemorrhoid area in a bath or bowl of warm water
often.
However, if the external hemorrhoids are neglected and no effort
is made to treat them or lifestyle changes adopted, they may well
become so severe that they require a surgical solution such as:
• A hemorrhoidectomy which is the surgical
removal of a hemorrhoid under an anesthetic.
• Laser coagulation which involves an electric current applied
to the hemorrhoid via an electrode probe so that the hemorrhoid
then undergoes a chemical reaction that stops blood flow to the
hemorrhoid and allows the swollen tissue to shrink.
• Infrared photocoagulation which is where an infrared light
is used to coagulate the dilated vein which also promotes tissue
shrinkage.
However, if you can treat your external hemorrhoids early and change
to a healthier diet and lifestyle, you can probably avoid the necessity
for such procedures.
