Herpes
Genital herpes is a very infectious sexually
transmitted disease and is spread by having sexual intercourse
in any form. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this herpes virus.
Touching, sexual intimacy and kissing are all activities which can
spread the virus. But there is herpes
treatment available.
What does genital herpes look like?
The first sign of a herpes virus appearance may be a rash together
with painful and itchy blisters on the affected area of the body.
This affected area can be the mouth, anus, buttocks, penis, scrotum,
vulva, vagina or buttocks. These blisters can then turn into painful
ulcers. On the first outbreak of genital herpes, you may also suffer
from swollen glands, a fever or headache and a general rundown feeling.
There could be a burning sensation when urinating. Usually, it takes
up to 3 weeks for the first symptoms to appear but the virus can
lie dormant in your system for many years. Sometimes before an outbreak
occurs, you may notice some warning signs such as a tingling, burning
or itching feeling in the areas where the sores will later appear.
Genital herpes will always have the same symptoms for each outbreak.
The first outbreak is usually the worst so although the symptoms
seem to stay the same, the actual pain and number of sores should
lessen each time an outbreak occurs. It is important to note that
herpes simplez virus 1 is otherwise known as the common cold
sore.
It is therefore wise to start herpes treatment as soon as possible.
Using a safe and gentle anti-viral medication such as H-stop Dx
and H-guard Dx, that is available on line to treat the outbreak,
relieve the symptoms and prevent or control future outbreaks, makes
good sense.
There are also prescription drugs available through your medical
practitioner but as serious side effects are a possibility, you
will need to research the product carefully before embarking on
a course.
Part of your herpes treatment is learning to manage the symptoms
of genital herpes whilst taking your medication:
• Wear loose comfortable clothing during outbreaks.
• Drink large quantities of fluids (water is best) which will
decrease pain during urination and if you are comfortable with this,
urinating in the bath will be less painful.
• Wash your hands with soap and water if you touch an infected
area and be careful not to rub your eyes or touch your mouth.
• Avoid further infection by keeping the affected area clean
and dry. When drying affected areas, use a cool hair dryer or lightly
pat dry.
• Epsom salts in your bath water can help clean and dry out
infected areas.
• Wash bath towels before reusing and wash underwear frequently.
• A healthy lifestyle including proper diet, adequate rest
and low stress levels can improve your immune system and reduce
the likelihood of outbreaks.
It is important for anyone with an outbreak of genital herpes to
abstain from sexual contact. Transmission is more likely during
an outbreak but even when no genital herpes sores are visible, a
risk still exists. Latex condoms can help prevent the spread of
the herpes virus but because the virus can be passed from skin to
skin contact, condoms are less likely to offer protection against
genital herpes than most other sexually transmitted infections.
The only way to be 100% sure that genital herpes is not transmitted
to other sexual partners is to abstain.
